Sag Harbor Village Justice Court, Suffolk County, New York

NOTE:   For information on how to respond to a ticket, Paul can be reached by calling 631-287-0018 or by email at [email protected].

Speeding tickets and other traffic tickets received in the Village of Sag Harbor are returnable to the Court at 55 Main St., P.O. Box 1999,  Sag Harbor, NY 11963. Judge Lisa Rana, who also sits on the bench in East Hampton, is the presiding Justice. The court is in session for traffic violations on Friday mornings beginning at 9:00 a.m. Be aware that the date given on the ticket for the return of the ticket may not be the day for a pretrial conference, hearing or trial on the ticket. If you wish to contest the ticket, you must return the ticket to the court with a plea of not guilty by the date on the ticket and then a pretrial conference will be scheduled by the court. We have had great success in the past in getting speeding tickets and other traffic tickets reduced or dismissed in the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court without the driver having to appear in court. In most cases in which the court approves a reduction of a moving violation to a zero point violation, the Judge imposes a fine plus surcharge totaling $213.00 and grants time for the fine to be paid (cell phone related tickets will require the performance of community service at a not-for-profit organization in order to obtain a reduction to zero points). We are often available on short notice to make a court appearance for a driver. Points from speeding tickets can cause your insurance premiums to skyrocket or result in a revoked or suspended license. Avoid points on your license, insurance costs and DMV assessments by having Paul Tuths handle your speeding ticket or other traffic ticket/violation in the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court.

Our process

Paul Tuths takes a personal, hands-on approach to the defense of your traffic violation case. He will interview you over the telephone and through emails and review your documentation to obtain as much information as possible regarding the circumstances surrounding your moving violation.  Paul will handle all dealings with the court including the return of the ticket to the court with a plea of NOT GUILTY. After the ticket is returned to the court with a plea of not guilty, the court sets a conference date at which time Paul Tuths will appear on your behalf and discuss a proposed reduction or dismissal with the prosecutor. In most cases, we are able to proceed in court without your personal appearance based upon your written authorization. We will prepare the authorization letter for you to sign. From start to finish, Paul Tuths will be the attorney personally handling your case. We DO NOT assign or farm out cases to other attorneys to make our court appearances on traffic tickets. We use our years of experience in the local courts of eastern Long Island to get the best possible result for you. At the conclusion of the court case,  Paul will contact you to advise you of the final disposition, the fine imposed by the court (unless the ticket has been dismissed) and the date by which payment of the fine is due.

Fees

We charge on a flat rate basis for our legal services on most traffic law matters. The amount of the charge depends on the number and nature of the traffic violations which the driver has received. Our flat rate charge covers all services including review of the traffic charges and driving record, consultations and correspondence with the driver, court appearances and final wrap-up with the driver. There is no charge for an initial consultation on traffic violations. Our fee does not include any fines and surcharges which may be imposed by a court. All fines and surcharges are the sole responsibility of the driver. Payment of fines must be received at the court by the due date. If payment is not received by the due date, driving privileges will be subject to suspension by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles.

We accept payment by credit/debit card, echeck and personal check.
