Southampton Town Justice Court, Suffolk County, New York

NOTE:  For information on how to respond to a ticket, Paul can be reached by calling  631-287-0018 or by email at [email protected].

Speeding tickets and other traffic tickets received in the Town of Southampton are returnable to the Southampton Town Justice Court located at 32 Jackson Ave., Hampton Bays , NY 11946. This includes speeding tickets received on Sunrise Highway (Route 27) east of Exit 62 and speeding tickets received on County Road 39 where the speed limit drops to 35 mph. The Southampton Town Justice Court has four Presiding Justices who rotate every two weeks:  Judge Barbara Wilson, Judge Gary J. Weber, Judge Karen Sartain and Judge Patrick Gunn. Initial pretrial conferences for all speeding tickets and other traffic violations are ordinarily scheduled for Monday afternoons at 1:00 p.m.  Drivers must be aware that the date given on the ticket for the return of the traffic ticket is NOT the day for a court hearing or trial on the ticket. Drivers who appear at the Southampton Town Court on the date on the ticket will find that their cases are not on the court calendar and will not be added to that day’s calendar.  If a driver wishes to contest a traffic ticket, the ticket should be returned to the court with a plea of not guilty by the date on the ticket. A court conference will then be scheduled where there will be an opportunity to plea bargain the speeding ticket or traffic ticket to a less serious violation.

We have been appearing in the Southampton Town Justice Court for more than 25 years and have had great success in getting speeding tickets and other traffic tickets reduced or dismissed in this court without the driver’s having to appear in court.  The maximum fine that the Southampton Town Court Judges usually impose in cases in which speeding tickets are reduced to zero points is $175.00 but the fine may be less than the maximum. Additionally, we are often able to handle a pretrial conference for a driver on very short notice.

Points from speeding tickets and other traffic tickets can cause insurance premiums to skyrocket or result in a revoked or suspended license. Avoid points on your license, increased insurance costs, possible DMV assessments and the need to personally appear in court by having Paul Tuths handle your speeding ticket or other traffic ticket/violation in the Southampton Town Justice Court.

Our process

Paul Tuths takes a personal, hands-on approach to the defense of a traffic violation case. He will interview you over the telephone and through emails and review your documentation to obtain as much information as possible regarding the circumstances surrounding your moving violation.  Once retained, Paul will handle all dealings with the court, including the return of the ticket to the court with a PLEA of NOT GUILTY and the scheduling of the pretrial conference. At the conference, Paul Tuths will appear on your behalf and discuss a proposed reduction or dismissal with the prosecutor. With few exceptions, we are able to proceed in court without your personal appearance based upon your written authorization which we will prepare and email to you for your signature. From start to finish, Paul Tuths will be the attorney personally handling your case. We DO NOT assign or farm out cases to other attorneys to make our court appearances on traffic tickets. We use our years of experience in the local courts of eastern Long Island to get the best possible result for you. At the conclusion of the court case, Paul Tuths will contact you to advise you of the final disposition, the fine imposed by the court (unless the ticket has been dismissed) and the date by which payment of the fine is due.

Fees

We charge on a flat rate basis for our legal services on most traffic law matters. The amount of the charge depends on the number and nature of the traffic violations which the driver has received. Our flat rate charge covers all services including review of the traffic charges and driving record, consultations and correspondence with the driver, court appearances and final wrap-up with the driver. There is no charge for an initial consultation on traffic violations. Our fee does not include any fines and surcharges which may be imposed by a court. All fines and surcharges are the sole responsibility of the driver. Payment of fines must be received at the court by the due date. If payment is not received by the due date, driving privileges may be subject to suspension by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles.

We accept payment by credit/debit cards and echeck which can be made online. Clients may also pay our fee with a personal check.
